Tehran and the Age of Trump

Tehran and the Age of Trump

Trump’s stunning attack on Tehran has most of us a bit slack-jawed. Here we go again. For the moment, just thinking as a journalist, we’re off to maybe the biggest story in the Age of Trump… and we’re ready for it. On the TV/video side exclusively, where the big picture unfolds, to mention a few names – nobody does it any better than Richard Engel, currently in Israel, or Keir Simmons in Dubai for NBC. Richard and Keir, along with PBS’ Christiane Amanpour, who spent her early childhood in Iran, and Clarissa Ward at CNN are all extraordinary foreign/war correspondents for starters. They’re my personal go-to players, but there are so many more for sure. Please send me yours.

Looking back to 1979, many of us will never forget “Nightline” with the inimitable, brilliant and tireless Ted Koppel. ABC’s “America Held Hostage” lasted for 444 days. Tehran is one of the most dangerous places for any working journalist in the world.

Tehran bombing Iran

Godspeed.
