I’m looking forward to a conversation during the “Democracy in the Balance” conversation at West Virginia University on the state of journalism and its essential role in our democracy. The event will be held on April 29.
Over the course of my career, from NBC News to 60 Minutes, I’ve seen firsthand how vital a strong, independent press is to holding power accountable. More recently, my work with Mississippi Today and Deep South Today has reinforced my belief that nonprofit news organizations are critical to serving communities often left behind.
At a time when trust and civic engagement are under strain, I’m eager to talk about how journalism can continue to inform, connect, and strengthen the public good.
